On 17 February, 2012, H.E. Ambassador Yang Houlan met with the main members of Nepal-China Academy (Pokhara), including its vice president Mr. Damodar Basaula and general secretary Mr. Yubaraj Parajuli. The two sides cordially exchanged the views on further strengthening China-Nepal friendly ties.
Mr. Damodar Basaula said that Nepal-China Academy (Pokhara) is committed to strengthening China-Nepal friendship since its establishment in 2006. Pokhara is the second largest city of Nepal. As Nepal-China cooperation and the number of Chinese visitors coming to Nepal keep growing, people in Pokhara are more and more interested in Chinese language and culture, and have a strong wish to further strengthen the friendly exchanges and cooperation with the Chinese side. The Academy hopes to set up different forums such as youth, women, business men, media, culture as well as Nepal-China friendly school, to further enhance the understanding and friendship between Nepalese and Chinese and make contribute to Nepal-China relations.
Mr. Yang thanked the Academy for its long-time efforts to promote China-Nepal friendship. Mr. Yang said Pokhara is not only a famous city for tourism but also a herald of China-Nepal friendly exchanges. China has assisted Nepal to construct the road linking Kathmandu and Pokhara. It is now still highly appreciated by Nepalese people. The friendly organizations between our two countries have laid solid social foundation for our bilateral ties. The Embassy will thoroughly study the Academy’s suggestions and continue to strengthen the exchanges with the Academy, to consolidate China –Nepal Comprehensive partnership of cooperation.
